Got a little Valentine story about a homebuyer, a home, a move and a gift of a purple tea kettle – a Simply Perfect Valentine
It doesn’t take much…really it doesn’t. This little purple tea kettle is a perfect example of how you can brighten someone’s day for Valentine’s Day or any other day, for that matter.
I had the privilege of selling a home to some people who moved to Texas from North Carolina. The husband drove here for the closing, but the wife stayed behind to finish packing and supervise the movers. So, the day of closing comes-kind of cold, gray, rainy-and I meet the husband at the home for a final walk through. The charming house is totally empty. There’s not a piece of furniture. Nothing in the home but a small box, addressed to the husband/buyer, sitting on the kitchen island.
So, Mr. Homebuyer opens the box and pulls out this wonderful purple tea kettle from his wife. I can promise you that the kitchen was instantly transformed as that tea kettle was placed on the stove top. Bright, cheery and in anticipation of the shared days ahead, the little purple tea kettle made that house a “home.” And, more importantly, the wife immediately became a part of the walk through.
The purple tea kettle begged to be painted and I had so much fun creating “Purple Heart.” My job, as a Texas real estate agent, allowed me to be a part of many lives in transition and my passion for painting gives me a way to preserve some of the moments I get to share.
Happy Valentine’s Day, friends. The romance of the day can be expressed in so many ways every day, all year. It doesn’t take a lot of time, money or trouble to let someone know that they are special. Look what a tea kettle can do!
