Description
This 2,608 +/- acre tract consists of areas of mature stands of mixed pine and hardwood species in bottom lands and stream side management zones on 400 +/- acres of the property. The vast majority of the property, 2,180 +/- acres, is composed of pine plantations varying in age from 3 years to 32 years. The balance of the acreage is located in roadways, natural openings and other right of way features. Historically, the tract was under intensive forest management by Temple Eastex, a large, local timber management company. The property was formerly a portion of the "Malibu Hunting Club," a recreational and hunting area used by Temple Inland Management. This area is known for abundant whitetail deer with large antler mass. Property has a current MLD application in place with TPW. The tract adjoins the Davy Crockett National Forest on its western boundary.This area of East Texas is in the heart of timber production, with active mills close by in Corrigan and the new Angelina Forest Products facility in Lufkin. Taxes shown below represent a timber exemption.
